About Achabal
Achabal is a Mughal garden in Anantnag district at about 1,936 m, roughly 8 km from Anantnag town and 58 km from Srinagar. It was laid out around 1620 by Empress Nur Jahan, remodelled by Jahanara about 1634 to 1640, and later rebuilt on a smaller scale by Gulab Singh.
It is arranged in terraces with chinar and cypress trees, water channels and cascades fed by a powerful spring. A mosque in the grounds is attributed to Prince Dara Shikoh.
