About Margan Top
Margan Top, also called Margan Pass, is a 3,696 m pass connecting the Kashmir Valley with the Warwan Valley in Kishtwar district. The approach is a 51. 9 km unpaved road that needs four-wheel drive; construction began in 1982 and it opened to traffic in 1987.
It is generally passable May to September and closed by snow the rest of the year. An army checkpoint below the final ascent checks identity and vehicle papers.

- The road is entirely unpaved, steep and four-wheel-drive only; it closes with the first heavy snow

- No fuel, food or mobile coverage on the Warwan side of the top
