About Gulmarg
Gulmarg is a high-altitude meadow and hill station in Baramulla district, ringed by the Pir Panjal range beneath Apharwat Peak. Once a summer retreat for Mughal emperors and later developed by the British as a golfing and skiing resort, it now holds one of the highest cable cars in the world, the Gulmarg Gondola, which lifts visitors toward Apharwat for skiing, snowboarding and sweeping views of the valley.
In summer the ski slopes turn into open meadows used for walking, golf and pony rides.
