About Kokernag

Kokernag is a spring and garden site in Anantnag district, about 25 km from Anantnag town via NH244. It is known for the largest freshwater spring in Kashmir, which emerges at the base of a thickly wooded hill and divides into several channels feeding a terraced botanical garden.

The water is described in the Ain-i-Akbari for its medicinal properties. A trout farm established in 1984 occupies part of the site alongside the gardens.
