About Chashme Shahi

Chashme Shahi is a three-terraced Mughal garden on the Zabarwan foothills above Dal Lake, laid out in 1632 by Ali Mardan Khan, a governor under Shah Jahan, as a gift for Prince Dara Shikoh. Measuring roughly 108 by 38 metres, it is the smallest of Srinagar’s three Mughal gardens.

Its design centres on a natural spring descending through an aqueduct, a waterfall and fountains, with a two-storey Kashmiri pavilion and stone water ramps.
