About Hari Parbat
Hari Parbat, also called Koh-e-Maran, is a hill west of Dal Lake overlooking Srinagar and is held sacred by Kashmiri Pandits. The fort on its summit was built in the early 19th century under Atta Mohammad Khan during Durrani rule, within an outer rampart begun by the Mughal emperor Akbar around 1590.
Its slopes hold the Sharika Devi temple, the shrine of Hamza Makhdoom, a mosque built by Jahanara Begum and two gurdwaras.
