About Hazratbal Shrine

Hazratbal is a Sufi shrine and mosque on the northern bank of Dal Lake in Srinagar, among the most important Islamic sites in Kashmir. It enshrines the Moi-e-Muqqadas, traditionally held to be a hair of the Prophet Muhammad, shown publicly only on certain occasions such as Mawlid.

The present white marble building, with a dome and a single minaret in Mughal-influenced style, was completed in 1979.
